Some Firewall and Anti-Virus programs, such as the Windows Firewall and Windows Defender may block Sync from working properly. Here is how to add Sync as an exception.
Windows Firewall
To allow Sync through the firewall:

Open Windows Security from the Start Menu.

Click Firewall & network protection.

Select Allow an app through firewall.
- If you’re using antivirus software (such as Kaspersky, ESET, Norton, or similar), you may need to temporarily disable it to access this setting on your device.

Click Change settings. You may need to enter your administrator password.

If Sync appears in the list, check the box next to it.
- Make sure both Private and Public are selected.

If Sync is not listed, click Allow another app… and browse to Sync.exe, usually located at:
C:\Program Files\Sync\Sync.exe - Select the network types (Private and Public) you want to allow, then click OK.
Once added, Windows Firewall will allow Sync to connect normally, helping to prevent upload, download, or connection issues.
Windows Defender
To add Sync as an exception:

Open Windows Security from the Start Menu.

Click Virus & threat protection.

Under Virus & threat protection settings, click Manage settings.

Scroll down to the Exclusions section and click Add or remove exclusions.

Click + Add an exclusion, then choose Folder or Process.

Folder: Add the folder where Sync is installed, usually:
C:\Program Files\Sync -
Process: Add the Sync application process, usually:
Sync.exe

Folder: Add the folder where Sync is installed, usually:

Browse to and select the item you want to exclude, then click Open.
Once added, Windows Defender will skip scanning Sync’s files and processes, preventing it from being blocked or slowed down.
To add Sync as an exception:
- Click on Start and type control panel on the search bar then click on the search result showing Control Panel Desktop app

- On the Control Panel window, click on View by: and select Small Icons (if it has not yet been set that way) then go to Windows Defender Firewall
- On the Windows Defender Firewall screen, click on Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall
- Check if Sync is already on the list of Allowed Apps and features. If not, click on Change Settings then select Allow another app and click on Browse
- Type the following on the File name: field and click Open
C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Programs\Sync\sync-taskbar.exe or C:\Program Files (x86)\Sync\sync-taskbar.exe
Note: Replace yourusername with your actual Windows Username.
- If you're not sure what your username is, hold down the CTRL, ALT and DEL keys on your keyboard all at once and click on Task Manager. Go to the Users tab to see your username.
- Click on Add. Repeat steps #4 and #5, this time, type: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Programs\Sync\sync-worker.exe or C:\Program Files (x86)\Sync\sync-taskbar.exe\sync-worker.exe
- Confirm if Sync.com and sync-worker.exe are now on the Allowed apps and features list.
- Click OK to close the window.

Windows Firewall
To allow Sync through the firewall:

Click on the Start menu and Select Control Panel.
- Select Windows Firewall.
- Select Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall on the top left panel.
- Select Change settings and then select Allow another program...
- Select Sync and click Add.
- Click OK at the bottom to exit.
Windows Defender
To add Sync as an exception:
- Click on the Start menu and enter "Defender" into the search bar.
- Within Windows Defender click Tools.
- Within the tools menu click Options.
- Within the Options menu select Excluded files and folders and click Add...
- Add the following folders:
- C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Sync.Config\
- C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Sync.Logs\
- C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Programs\Sync\
- The location of your Sync folder
- Can’t find the AppData folder? Click here.
- Click Save.
Sync will then be added as an exclusion.
