How do I find log files in macOS?

The Sync desktop app logs activity, including errors in the log files. If you experience an issue, our support team may ask you to locate and send these logs. This article will cover:


How to automatically send logs to Sync

  1. Click the Sync icon in the menu bar.
  2. Click on the Settings ⚙︎ icon.
  3. Click Preferences.
  4. Click the Options tab
  5. Click “send now” next to the “Report Errors to Server” option.

How to manually locate and send logs to Sync

  1. Open the Finder and click on Go from the Menu bar
  2. Click Go to Folder...

  3. Enter the following into the path field:
    /Users/yourUSERNAME/Library/Group Containers/com.sync.desktop/Library/Logs/Sync.com/

    (Note: "yourUSERNAME" is the login name on your computer)

  4. Locate the sync-worker and sync-taskbar text files and attach them to your reply.

If you do not see the text files, confirm if you are only seeing the Containers folder. If this happens, open /com.sync.desktop then navigate through the following path to access the text files: /Library/Logs/ Sync.com/
