Processing Changes Error: #1680

Error message:
“Your Sync Account is currently processing changes to folders and files. Please leave your browser open and try again in a few minutes.”

What this error means:

Error 1680 indicates that your Sync account is currently processing background tasks, such as encryption, file updates, or structural changes. These processes must be completed before new actions can be performed.

This typically occurs when:

  • A large number of files or folders are being added, modified, or synced.
  • Encryption tasks are still running.
  • You're accessing Sync through the web panel while tasks are still in progress.

How to resolve the issue:

To allow the processing to complete, follow these steps:

  1. Leave the browser tab or desktop app open.
    The background tasks require either the web panel or the Sync desktop app to remain open and active. Keep the tab or app open for at least 5–10 minutes, then try your action again.
  2. Use the Sync desktop app (if not already).
    The desktop app is optimized for managing larger data sets and complex background tasks more efficiently than the web panel alone. Download the latest version here.
  3. Look for background task indicators.
    While tasks are processing, the web panel may display a message like “Encryption Tasks Running” at the top of the screen. This is normal and should disappear once the tasks are complete.

  • Try refreshing the web panel.
  • Restart the Sync desktop app.
