Sync is designed for one person using one account, with up to 5 devices connected at a time. If more than 5 devices are connected, only 5 can sync simultaneously; any additional device will have to wait until one of the active syncing devices is freed up. This can lead to delays, stuck syncing, missing updates, and other unexpected behavior.
If you suspect your syncing issues are related to too many connected devices, try these steps to get things back on track.
1) Check how many devices are connected
- Sign in to the web panel.
- Click Settings from the left navigation bar.
- Click Devices.
Review how many computers are connected to the account.
2) Disconnect devices you no longer use
Remove any old computers you don’t recognize, no longer use, or that were set up by someone else.
After disconnecting, keep your account to 5 devices or fewer for best results.
3) Don’t share one account across multiple people
If a team is using one login on many machines, the best fix is to stop sharing the account and move to a setup that’s designed for multi-user access:
Each person should use their own Sync account (Free or Pro), or
Use a Teams plan so access and sharing are managed properly.
4) If you still need multiple people accessing the same data
Use Shared Folders / Team Shared Folders instead of sharing one login.
This keeps ownership, access, and syncing behavior predictable.
