1. Upload your first file

The easiest way to get started is to upload a file in the Sync web panel.

Install the Sync desktop app

For the fastest upload and transfer speeds, install the Sync desktop app and add files to your Sync folder.

2. Get organized with the web panel and mobile apps

Install the Sync mobile app

Use the Sync mobile app to access and preview your files from your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

Learn your way around the Sync web panel

In the Sync web panel, you can access your files and manage your account from any browser.

Set up a folder structure that stays organized

A consistent folder structure makes it easier to find files and share them with the right people.

3. Back up files and free up storage

Sync helps you protect your files with back ups and stay in control of storage across your devices.

Archive files with Vault

Vault is cloud-only storage for backing up files outside of your Sync folder. Since Vault files don’t automatically sync to your other devices, Vault is ideal for long-term backups and freeing up space.

Save space with CloudFiles

With CloudFiles, you can see your files on your computer without storing them locally. Download a file only when you need it.

Back up your photos with Camera Uploads

When enabled, Camera Uploads copies your phone’s photos and videos to Sync automatically. This keeps your photos protected even if your device is lost, damaged, or runs out of storage.

For a full walkthrough of these backup and storage options, see How to back up your files and save space with Sync

4. Share files and collaborate

Sync gives you a few ways to share files and work with others:

Links
A shared link is a quick way to send a file to anyone, no account required. With links, you can manage controls like passwords, expiry dates, and notifications.

Team Shared Folders
For shared workspaces, Team Shared Folders make it easy for multiple users to work from the same files in one central location.

For a full walkthrough, see How to share and collaborate with Sync.

5. Secure your account

Sync is built to keep your files private and secure with encrypted cloud storage. To strengthen your account security, take a few quick steps:

  • Use a strong, unique password to reduce the risk of unauthorized access.

  • Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for an extra layer of protection.

  • Set up password recovery options (like email-based recovery or a password hint) so you can regain access if you forget your password.

  • Monitor account activity and events to stay on top of important changes.
