How do I allow Sync to work with Norton?

Some firewall and Antivirus programs sometimes block Sync from working properly. Here’s how to add Sync as an exception with Norton Security:

Add Sync to Norton scan exclusions

To prevent Norton from interfering with Sync, add the Sync folder and app to Norton’s exclusion list:

  1. Open your Norton device security product.

  2. In the left pane, click Security.

  3. In the Security dashboard, under the Scans tile, click Open.

  4. In the Scans window, click the Exclusions tab.

  5. Click Add or Add Exclusion.

  6. In the Add Exclusion window, click the browse icon.

  7. Navigate to your Sync folder (for example, C:\Users\[YourName]\Sync) and select it.

  8. Click OK, then Add to confirm.

    • You can also add the Sync desktop app executable (Sync.exe) located in:
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Sync for sync-taskbar.exe/"Sync.com"
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Sync for sync-taskbar.exe/sync-worker.exe
  9. The Sync folder and app are now listed as exclusions and will no longer be scanned or blocked by Norton.

Remove Sync from Norton exclusions

If you ever need to remove Sync from the exclusions list:

  1. Open your Norton device security product.

  2. Click Security in the left pane.

  3. In the Scans tile, click Open.

  4. Click the Exclusions tab.

  5. Find the Sync folder or Sync.exe entry.

  6. Click the X icon next to it to delete the exclusion.
