Regaining account access after losing your two-factor authentication (2FA) device or email

If you've lost access to your 2FA method (authenticator app or email), this article will guide you through the steps to regain access to your account. It covers:

Signing in with backup codes:

If you're unable to sign in because you've lost access to your 2FA method (e.g., your email or authenticator app) you can use your backup codes to login and reset your 2FA device.

  1. Sign in to the web panel.
  2. When prompted to enter your 2FA code, enter one of your backup codes instead.
    • Backup codes are single-use codes provided via email when you first set up 2FA. These should be securely stored for future access.
  3. Once logged in, you can proceed to reset your 2FA and choose a new method. (Note: you will be notified via email that a backup code was used to sign in.)

Recovering account access without backup codes:

If you have lost access to your 2FA device or email and do not have backup codes, you will need to contact support for further assistance.

Common Scenarios:

  • Lost, damaged, or replaced mobile device: If you cannot restore the 2FA app on a new device and do not have backup codes, support can temporarily switch 2FA to email delivery to help you regain access.
  • Lost access to email: If you do not have backup codes and cannot receive 2FA codes via email, you will need to contact support for further assistance.
