How to navigate the new web panel (legacy web panel update)

As part of our commitment to improve your Sync experience, we've recently updated the web panel. These updates are designed to make your workflows smoother, clearer, and more efficient.

The sections below outline key differences between the previous and new web panel workflows to help you get up and running quickly.

Uploading and Downloading

The new Sync web panel enhances the way you transfer files. Uploading starts from the new (+) button located at the bottom-right corner of the seen as seen here:

Also note these other updates to your file transfer workflows: 

Workflow Old New Web Panel 
Upload files Click the Upload button in the right-side navigation bar.

Click the (+) button located at the bottom-right corner of the screen, and then click the Upload icon.

Download files Select a file to open in preview mode and click Download.

Select a file to open in preview mode, and click the menu ellipsis in the top-right. Then click Download.

Drag & drop upload Click the Upload button and drag and drop into the window.  Drag and drop directly into the file view. Additionally, you can drag and drop into a folder directly by hovering over it. 
Monitor transfers View transfers from the integrated widget in the upload window.  View transfers in the docked widget located in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

 


Menu and Navigation

The new Sync web panel provides an upgraded core navigation experience to get you where you need to be faster, with an all new slide-out navigation bar on the left-hand side of your screen.

Additional notable navigation updates include:

Workflow Old New Web Panel 
Navigation bar Access the primary navigation bar at the top of your screen.  Access the slide-out navigation bar on the left-hand side of your screen. 
Profile menu Access the profile menu from the top right to navigate to settings, view storage usage, and sign out.  Access the profile menu from the top-right corner to enable dark mode, choose a custom start page, view storage usage and plan details, manage security settings, and sign out.
Events audit log Click Events, located on the primary navigation bar at the top of your screen. Navigate to Settings from the slide-out navigation on the left-hand side of your screen. Then click the Events tab
Customize start page Not available.  Navigate to the profile menu on the top-right corner of your screen. Next, select Change start page
Account settings Click your email in the top right corner, then select Settings Access settings from the slide-out navigation bar on the left-hand side of your screen or the profile menu in the top-right of your screen by clicking Profile.

 


File and Account Management

Managing your files in the new web panel is now much easier thank to infinite scrolling, the new file info box, keyboard shortcuts, and improved file action workflows.

Here's a list of all the file management workflow changes:

Workflow Old New Web Panel 
View file size and modified date View in-line in the file listing. View inline, or, selecting the file and click the new info () icon. 
Scroll through long file lists Use the numbered pagination at the bottom of the file list. Use infinite scroll to load more items automatically. Just continue to scroll, and the list will continue to populate.
Move or rename linked files Moving or renaming a linked file (or folder) breaks the link.  Moving or renaming a linked file (or folder) preserves the link. 

Select individual files 

Click the checkbox next to the file (or folder).  Hover over the file (or folder), and click the checkbox that appears over the icon.
Select all files Click the dropdown (▼) icon in the top-left corner of the file list to select all items, only files, or only folders. Click the checkbox in the top-left corner of the file list to select all. Additionally, use the new keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + A (Windows) or Cmd + A (Mac) to select all visible files.
Restore deleted files Click Show deleted files from the right menu to view and recover deleted files in the active folder location.  Click the trash bin with eye icon located in the top-right corner of the screen to view and recover deleted files in the active folder location.

Preview files and open folders Click the file or folder name or click the thumbnail icon. Click the file or folder name.
Update your profile picture, display name, or change your email address From Account Settings, click Edit next to each option. Navigate to Settings > Profile and click the ellipsis () on the right side of your screen, and then click the option.
Creating documents Click Create file on the right panel menu. Choose the document type, name the document, and click Create. Click the (+) button on the bottom right of your screen. From the popup click the file icon, select the file type, name the document and click Create
Creating a folder Click New folder on the right panel menu. Name the folder and click Add. Click the (+) button on the bottom right of your screen. From the popup click the folder icon, then Folder on the left. Create a name and click Create
Creating a new shared folder Click New shared folder on the right panel menu. You'll be prompted to name the folder, invite users, and set permissions. Once completed, click, Create Share.

Click the (+) button on the bottom right of your screen. From the popup click the folder icon, then Shared Folder on the right, create a name and click Continue. Next, you'll be prompted to invite users and set permissions. Once completed, click Create.

 

Moving and copying the Vault and Sync folder (Files) selection

Click the ellipsis (⋮) menu next to the file, then choose Copy or Move. Under the Move to section, choose if you would like to change the destination to the Sync Folder or Vault Click the ellipsis (⋮) menu next to the file, then choose Copy or Move. By default, the Files tab will open for you to select a destination. To copy or move the file to your Vault, click the Vault tab and choose a location there.
Moving and copying overwriting behavior Copying or moving will merge an existing folder with the same name (it will not be replaced). 

Moving existing files or folders with the same name will have the option to Replace or Keep Both files before copying or moving it to the new destination. (Replace will merge, Keep both will create a copy.) 

Accessing file version history Click the ellipses menu on the file, then select Version history Click the ellipsis () menu on the file. Select Version History.

Workflow Old New Web Panel 
Creating a link Hover your cursor over the file or folder. Select ShareShare as link. Hover your cursor over the file or folder, then select the link icon. 
Downloading all from a shared link Click the Download as Zip button. Click the download icon in the top right corner of the screen. The files will start to download in a .zip file automatically. 
Enabling editing on a link

Hover your cursor over the file or folder, then select Share > Manage link > View advanced settings. Under file permissions, click the option to  View, download and edit. 

Hover your cursor over the file or folder, then select the link icon. Select the Permission dropdown and click View, download, and edit. 
Enabling uploads on a link Hover your cursor over the file or folder, then select Share > Manage link > View advanced settings. Under upload permissions, select enable.  Hover your cursor over the file or folder, then select the link icon. Next to Allow file uploads, click the toggle to enable it.

Workflow Changes
Rewards Your existing rewards links will continue to function, however the program is being re-worked. Stay tuned.
Font Size To increase the overall font size of the new web panel experience, adjust your browser’s zoom settings using Ctrl + (Windows) or Cmd + (Mac). 
Dark Mode Navigate to the profile menu in the top right corner of your screen, then click the toggle next to Dark mode to enable it.
