Resolving "The parameter is incorrect" error

If you see the error "The parameter is incorrect" during or after installing the Sync desktop app on Windows, it is usually caused by an issue with Windows Quick Access. During installation, Sync attempts to pin your Sync folder to Quick Access. If the Quick Access database has become corrupted, Windows may display this error.

This is a Windows-specific issue and does not affect the Sync desktop app or your ability to sync files.

How to fix it

  1. Close all File Explorer windows.
  2. Open the Command Prompt application.
  3. Reset the Quick Access database by copy and pasting the following command into Command Prompt, then press Enter.
    • del "%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations\f01b4d95cf55d32a.automaticDestinations-ms"
  4. Try opening or installing Sync again

The error should no longer appear. If it does, or if you're unable to install or access the Sync desktop app after completing these steps, please contact the support team for further assistance.
