Sync WebDAV can be connected directly to Files, also known as Nautilus, the default file manager included with Ubuntu and other GNOME-based Linux distributions.
This lets you browse, open, upload, download, rename, move, and delete files in Sync directly from the Linux file manager.
Before you begin, you'll need:
- A Sync account with WebDAV Early Access enabled. Join the early access program.
- Install and start the Sync WebDAV server on your GNOME-based Linux distribution. Follow these step-by-step instructions.
Connect to Sync
- Make sure the Sync WebDAV server is running.
- Open the Files application on your Linux system.
- In the left sidebar, select Other Locations.
- In the Connect to Server field, enter: dav://127.0.0.1:4918/
- Click Connect.
Your Sync files should now appear in Files. Bookmark the connection for easier access later.
Troubleshooting
Files cannot connect
- Confirm that Sync WebDAV is running.
Confirm that you're using dav://127.0.0.1:4918/ (rather than http://)
Files disappear after restarting Linux
- The Nautilus connection depends on the Sync WebDAV server. Restart Sync WebDAV before reconnecting.
Remotely added files are not visible
- Reload or refresh the Nautilus window.
